We are looking for a regular weekly nanny to sleep over twice a week (on Wed and Sat night) at a lovely, modern, secure unit in Killara to care for 2 well-behaved children aged 7 (boy) and 9 (girl).
The job is regular and ongoing every week and entails:
- collecting the kids from school in Killara (5min away) every Wed by 5pm, getting them to bed, bath/homework etc., sleeping over, and taking them back to school on a Thursday by 8am.
- Caring for the children on a Saturday night from 5pm overnight until Sunday 2pm.
- Some light housekeeping/tidying up as needed. We would expect you to take initiative to keep the unit clean and tidy while you are there, put washing in the machine, tidy kids toys, take rubbish outside to the bins, make sure the kitchen / bedrooms are tidy, a quick vacuum on a Sunday morning etc.
Total weekly payment would be a fixed amount of $600, paid every Monday.
This is based on an hourly rate of $30 for working hours and a flat $90 rate for overnight where you will have no responsibilities and can just sleep/work/study/netflix/relax etc. once the kids are in bed. This works out at $210 for Wed nights and $390 for Sat nights.
The days/hours would be regular and ongoing and generally not change although there may occasionally be some flexibility needed depending on the week or during school holidays, Xmas time etc. There will also be an opportunity for additional ad-hoc babysitting hours / school pick-ups/drop-offs at other times during the week (if you are available) at the hourly rate.
Bedtime is 730pm and they should usually be asleep well before 830pm, so you would usually have no duties at all overnight. If they happen to stay up a bit later or are unsettled / sick on any particular night (which seldom happens so would be exceptional) then that is part and parcel of the job and included in the weekly rate. Equally if we get home early or you need to leave early in exceptional circumstances, then we will also be flexible and there will be no reduction to the weekly rate.
You need to be reliable, mature, responsible, and have your own car. A positive outlook, willingness to engage with, put effort in, and build trust with the kids is essential. No boyfriends / partners or other visitors may be in the unit when you are caring for the kids.

An immediate start is preferred with an initial trial of a few nights required to make sure you're a good fit with the kids and vice versa !
